Part of the IB Mission is to challenge a student to become a critical, international and independent thinker. With my experience in the IB program, I believe that I have met that challenge. Having to do multiple research papers, papers and exams per subject, I now possess greater self-confidence in writing extensive and thorough research papers. Learning about other cultures’ traditions and languages has been my favorite component of the IB program. The IB program sparked my interest in the Spanish culture, influencing me to take up a minor in Spanish and Latino Studies. The IB program also challenged me to be a leader both inside and outside of the classroom. Being involved as captain of a varsity team, a president of an honor society, and a co-leader of a community service project, I was continuously challenged to maintain my grades while being so involved. The IB program has taught me to become not only a well-rounded student, but also a leader.
