The Science department at Cardinal Newman High School is at a dynamic intersection of our evolving world, encompassing biological, chemical, environmental, and physical phenomena. It maintains a commitment to delivering an objective and unbiased scientific curriculum, fostering students’ analytical skills through laboratory work and promoting the scientific method. The department aims to provide a solid science foundation, believing that its diverse program offerings and instructional approaches accommodate students of all abilities and interests.   Each course offers practical insights relevant to the 21st century, with Biology exploring topics such as cells, anatomy, and sea life, while Chemistry delves into elements, chemical equations, and interactions. Further, Physics underscores the significance of matter and energy in our daily lives. In these courses, science is presented as both a body of knowledge and a process for acquiring and evaluating new knowledge. Every student must successfully complete Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to graduate, supplemented by a fourth-year science elective in their senior year, chosen from a range of available options.  All of our courses allow students the opportunity to excel at different levels including college preparatory, honors courses and Advanced Placement courses.
